Functional Food Solutions is owned by respected Sports Dietitian, Peta Carige. Functional Food Solutions dietitians are vastly experienced and motivated Accredited Practising Dietitian’s (APD) and Accredited Sports Dietitians (AccSD). With clinics located in Sydney, our dietitians are available for individual consults and cater to everyone from those with chronic diseases to elite athletes.
Every team member of Functional Food Solutions is accredited by the Dietetics Association of Australia (DAA) to provide safe client specific diet and general physical activity advice. Additionally, each expert practitioner has further completed higher levels of education to guarantee exceptional services in their specialty areas.

Peta Carige is regarded as one of the top Sports Dietitians in Sydney. After graduating with a duel degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Bachelor of Science she was able to obtain a clinical position in a tertiary hospital while maintaining sports nutrition work on the side. This allowed Peta to obtain a unique experience in numerous clinical areas as well as in sports nutrition and sports performance. Personally Peta’s background is in team sports and is a Touch Football representative player; therefore she loves training in the gym and outdoors. She loves having the knowledge and confidence to juggle sports commitments, training, work and her love of food and therefore helps her clients do the same.

Melanie’s involvement in sport from a young age, combined with an interest in health, led her to a fulfilling career as a Dietitian and Fitness coach. Mel values wholesome nutrition and exercise as being the most beneficial strategy in improving not only physical health but also mental health and wellbeing.
Having a background in middle distance running and personally enjoying outdoor adventure sports including hiking and diving, Mel believes everyone has the ability to better their health or achieve their athletic goals. Accountability and support is at the base of her counselling approach, as well as providing practical steps that are individually tailored to lifestyle.

Melanie commenced her dietetic career working in private practice and aged care on the Gold Coast before gaining a clinical position at Cairns Hospital predominately in Oncology. During this time, Melanie was able to pursue her passion of sports nutrition through professional development opportunities with local sports clubs and gyms.
